Question: Is homosexuality a sin according to the bible?

1Corinthians 6:9-10
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Answer: Yes.

Question: Ok, but what about in the New Testament?

Answer: That is in the New Testament.

In truth, homosexuality is only one of many sins that humans commit. It does not matter whether our particular “problem area” is homosexuality, or adultery, or fornication (sex outside of marriage), or hatred, or theft, or murder, or greed, or drunkenness, or fits of rage, or lying, or deceit, or witchcraft, or idolatry. The bible teaches any sin will separate us from God. It matters not what sin got us there, sin is sin and we still become lost. For a more complete look at what the bible calls sin, click here.

Question: But Jesus didn’t say it was wrong…

Answer: Oh yes He did!

“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

This phrase “sexually immoral”, spoken by Jesus Christ, is a Greek word that includes all forms of sexual immorality ranging from prostitution to homosexuality, to adultery, to fornication. The proper sexual relationship that God created which is good and is to be enjoyed is to be a relationship between one man and one woman who are married to each other. Anything other than this falls under the bible’s definition of sexual immorality including heterosexual premarital sex (fornication). It is quite hypocritical of many heterosexuals who condemn homosexuality to “wink’ at fornication and “affairs”. An “affair” is the world trying to water down what the bible condemns as adultery. Sin is sin and it is just as easy to go to hell as a heterosexual as it is as a homosexual. But because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, there is a way out of this “sin situation” and salvation is available to anyone who would believe and obey the gospel. We all have sins. Some people have homosexual sins and others have hetrosexual sins. Jesus died and was raised for us ALL.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Homosexuality a Matter of Biological Determination? –No scientific proof. Those who came up with this theory freely admit it is pure speculation

“Just because someone may think it feels good, doesn’t make it right!”

Can you imagine if we applied that reasoning to other areas? Countless families and marriages have suffered and have broken to pieces because something “felt good” for one brief moment! When we do things that go against God’s design of life there are always negative consequences. Some come sooner. Some come later.

There are many extremists who are really not Christians because they do not follow the bible. They misrepresent and distort the teachings of the bible. The New Testament does not teach anyone to hate gay people or to bring harm to them. But that does not mean homosexuality is not a sin either…The Bible is very clear in saying it is a sin. But the bible also teaches that Jesus loves gay people so much that he died for them!

Jesus loves you so much…

He died for you

“Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” – Luke 9:23

Just as heterosexuals must deny the sinful urges of the flesh, so too, must homosexuals…

“Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.” -1Peter 2:11
